How Vibrant Is Your Health? What Would It Feel Like To Fill Your Cup First Before Helping Others?

If you’ve been on an airplane you’ve heard the pre-flight instructions: If the oxygen mask drops, put your mask on first before helping others. Yes that makes sense, but when it comes to our day-to-day life we tend to do for others first leaving ourselves last. No matter what our age group or our health concerns, it’s time to care for ourselves first.

When you add a day job to caring for family members, your home, and maybe yourself, it seems more than overwhelming! In case you need validation – yes that is more than overwhelming. Many race around all day, collapsing into bed at night, but wondering why they can’t fall asleep. The body doesn’t work like that. It’s a lot to take on and easy to hit the burnout wall.

I read a definition of burnout as a form of exhaustion caused by constantly feeling swamped, whether physically, emotionally, and/or mentally for too long. As someone who recently retired from my 48 years of working, especially during the pandemic, I experienced my own kind of burnout. I refused to recognize it until I retired from a job I loved and relocated across the country. I arrived 3 days before my moving van and collapsed in a hotel sleeping most of the time with short walks and food/coffee.

Inspired by the Commit30 monthly challenge calendar/planners, and a sale on the 2024 version I’ll start using for the months of October – December, I decided to turn it into a focused organ system of the month intention/inspiration/revitalization planner. Yes instead of thinking of these as monthly challenges, I’m going to call them monthly intentions! Maybe even monthly learning and evolving sessions!! My copy is officially in the mail and to be delivered very soon, and yes I also purchased the 2025 version so I can be ready.

While I’ve had this idea for years, I’ve worked on it in different ways to wind down slowly. But the idea of focusing on an organ system each month to better understand how it works, what it needs, and “what are those symptoms trying to tell me” is exactly what I need.

OCTOBER 2024 will be all about the Digestive System

So why am I starting with the digestive system? As crazy as it may seem, besides effecting so many other parts of the body, once the digestive system is reset so many other symptoms shift and intuitive ideas come up. I’m sure you’ve heard of “gut intuition.” The gut is like the second brain.

I’m excited to get my 2024 Commit30 planner, even though a lot of the year is over. I have an idea of making a 12 month version as well so as ideas come up I will assign them to the January through September months so I can flush them out for next year. On my website I do have 6-month and 12-month wellness packages and if this works out I might suggest these planners as a great way to keep track along the way.

I’m excited to receive, unwrap, and get my Commit30 revitalization planner in full swing!
